LearnLock — Privacy Policy

LearnLock is a parental-control learning app. A parent sets up the app on their child's Android phone; the phone stays locked until the child answers school questions correctly, or the parent opens it with their PIN. This policy explains exactly what information the app handles — in short: everything stays on the device. We run no servers, we receive nothing, and we sell or share nothing.

1. Information the app stores — on the device only

During setup, a parent enters the following, which the app saves only in the app's private storage on that phone:

While the app is used, it also keeps a study record on the device: answers given, accuracy, response times, topics in focus, and mastery progress. This record powers the lock logic and the weekly parent report.

None of this information is transmitted to us or to anyone else. The app has no user accounts, no cloud sync, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party data-collection SDKs.

2. The weekly report

The "Email Report to Parent" button opens the parent's own email app with a pre-filled summary. The parent decides whether to send it, and to whom. We never receive a copy.

3. Phone calls

The "Call Mom" / "Call Dad" buttons and the emergency slider open the phone's dialer with the number the parent saved (or 911 for the emergency slider). We do not see, log, or transmit calls.

4. Device administration

With the parent's explicit setup, LearnLock can be installed as the device owner. That Android role is used only to keep the lock screen in place, prevent the app from being uninstalled or bypassed by the child, and block other app installs during lock periods. The app does not read the content of other apps, messages, photos, browsing, or location.

5. Children's privacy

LearnLock is designed for families and is set up and controlled by a parent or guardian. Because all information remains on the child's device and nothing is collected by us, we do not collect personal information from children (or from anyone) within the meaning of the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) or similar laws.

6. Deleting information

Parents can erase everything the app stores at any time: open Android Settings → Apps → LearnLock → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall the app (if device-owner mode is on, remove it first from the app's parent settings using the parent PIN). Once cleared or uninstalled, the information is gone permanently — we keep no copies anywhere.

7. Security

Stored information is kept in the app's private, sandboxed storage on the device, which Android protects from other apps.

8. Changes to this policy

If a future version of LearnLock ever changes how information is handled (for example, adding an optional cloud feature), we will update this page and the app will ask the parent before anything new is enabled.
